Hornby ZCV 'Clam'
Like the 'Rudd' and 'Tope', 'Clams' are built on the chassis of 21T hopper coal wagons that had been built in the late 1950s. The underframes were retained and new heavy duty ribbed bodies fitted to them. The 'Clam' has no doors and is used for transporting ballast and sleepers. 450 of the wagons were built between 1989 and 1990 by Powell Duffryn and RFS Doncaster.
There are four versions of the model, all in Departmental grey and yellow livery. One comes as a solo model and is in ex-works condition. This is R6417 and carries the running number DB973108. The other three models all have a 'weathered' finish and come in the R6418 triple pack. These are numbered DB973105, DB973106 and DB973107. All four wagons carry the ZCV TOPS code.
