Hornby 'Britannia' R2719
The 'Britannia' Class is another one with a long history with the company. The first model was in the Tri-ang Railways system and arrived in 1960. It was last made in 1979 after which it was replaced by an upgraded model in 1981 which had wire handrails and a ringfield motor in the tender. It received a finely detailed chassis in 2000 but was completely retooled for release in 2006 as a super-detailed model.
The latest version of this model is 70038 Robin Hood which is in late BR green but without flashes. The pony truck is fixed and there is a pair of flanged wheels in the box for those who wish to change them for the fitted 'roller' wheels, for the purpose of display. A lot of other detail is provided which will not be seen in our photograph.
