Bachmann Steel Mineral Wagons 3x mineral wagons 2008.jpg (42198 bytes)

Bachmann make a large range of steel mineral wagon types so that it is possible to make up realistic looking trains of them. Most of the real steel mineral wagons were built in the 1950s as replacements for the ailing wooden wagons, most of which were privately owned before being requisitioned by the government during the Second World War.

37-226D is a 16T wagon with a top flap over the side doors. It is painted in BR Bauxite brown livery and numbered B64026. 37-275D is a 27T steel Iron Ore 'Tippler' in BR grey and numbered B386369. Tipplers were emptied by being turned upside down in a cradle and so did not need side or end doors. 37-377C is a model of a 16T steel mineral wagon with pressed-steel end doors. It is in BR grey and is numbered B61926.
