Hornby WPR Austerity 0-6-0ST R2740
The Austerity 0-6-0 saddle tank was designed by Riddles and produced in vast numbers during the Second World War for war work. In peace time, they were sold off to the LNER, the National Coal Board and to other industries. Their high power and short wheelbase made them versatile machines.
The model was designed by Dapol who had it tooled up and they produced seven versions of it including two limited editions. The tools were sold to Hornby in 1996 and since then they have released a further 20 versions of the model. The latest is in a brown private owner livery of Wemyss Private Railway (WPR) and is No.16. Interestingly the catalogue illustrates No.18, which is in black livery.
