Hornby Class M7 R2735M7 BRc 30036 R2735 1.JPG (41342 bytes)

BR 30036 has late insignia on its tanks and is the short frame version of an M7 tank. The real locomotive was built for the London & South Western Railway in May 1898 and had a life of 66 years. It was taken out of service in January 1964. Designed by Dugald Drummond, the M7s are one of very few tank engines that have earned iconic status. Their long life speaks volumes about their usefulness both as a suburban passenger tank and on the distant branch lines. As DMUs started to take over these duties in the 1950s, their usefulness diminished but some held out on empty stock working. Although 25 were originally planned, 105 were eventually built - all but ten of them at Nine Elms.

The model comes with a bag of parts to fit which are not visible in the photograph. These include the NEM couplings, imitation articulated couplings and different types of vacuum pipes to suit the different variations. The brake rods are already fitted.
