Hornby Skaledale High Street ModelsMasons Arms Pub R8748.jpg (29391 bytes)

Many of the Skaledale buildings are clearly designed to fit into a village high street. Here are a few more of them.

Mason's Arms R8748

There have been many pubs and inns since this series started and this is certainly the smallest of them. It is a white building with a pantile roof, blank side walls and an inn sign hanging on one corner of the building, There are two dormer windows in the roof both front and back.

Hislop's Barbers shop is another building with plain side walls so that it can be incorporated into a terrace. It looks like a more modern building designed to fit into an older street scene. It would appear to have a flat upstairs as it has a second front entrance. There are also two back doors and the upper storey has a central bay window at the front.Faulkners Electrical Store R8749.jpg (22985 bytes)

Faulkners Electrical Store R8749

Faulkner's is a modern flat roof building with a plain wall on one side and an advertisement board on the other side wall, advertising the shop. The windows front and back are early post-war and featureless and the double access doors to the shop are well recessed. In the SkaleAutos series there is a Faulkner Electrical Ford Anglia van which would look good parked outside the shop.

Taxi Rank Office R8764.jpg (20226 bytes)Taxi Rank Office R8764

This is a very small concrete building with an asbestos roof, about the size of a double garage - and not looking much different. One side is plain and the other contains a window. There is also a small slit window in the back and a rear door. The front of the building has a door and large window in a single unit. One of the SkaleAutos Ford Zephyrs is finished as one of Don's taxis.

Fine Foods Supermarket (R8750)Fine Foods Supermarket R8750.jpg (25670 bytes)

This is a small supermarket of the type that you might find in the high street and which has grown out of a family grocery business. It has a flat roof and is a two storey building with a double shop front. At the back there is a roller shutter over an access that a van could be driven into. The sides of the building are plain so that the shop can be incorporated into a terrace. To match with the model there is an advertising lorry in the SkaleAutos series.
