Hornby Skaledale Commercial & Industrial BuildingsBellamys Office and factory R8771 & 8772.jpg (44020 bytes)

Some of the Skaledale range are larger commercial buildings for which it might be difficult to find room on smaller layouts.

Bellamy's Office Building R8771

The model appears to be loosely based on Hornby's office block at Westwood, on the outskirts of Margate. It has been much shortened in length but is in the same general style. Unlike the Hornby building, it has two vehicle access points, one at each end of the front elevation, with steel roller shutters. One is for 'goods in' and the other for 'goods out'. The building is in red brick, flat roofed and has an upper storey. The second story on the Hornby building was a later addition.

Designed to go with the above office block, this is a 'northlight' unit with small, high windows and good daylight through the roof. Several of the models would be required to create a realistic sized factory but this could probably not be accommodated on a model railway layout. It is a red brick building with green doors in all sides.

Car Service & Repair Shop (R8768)

Another building for which the SkaleAutos series caters is this service garage and repair shop, such as you might find in any village. This is a model that lends itself to detailing with typical clutter, adverts and notices. The two SkaleAutos models that go with it are the FX4 taxi and the Ford Anglia van, which are both in the correct livery.S&D Bus Depot R8766.jpg (41307 bytes)

Skaledale & District Bus Depot (R8766)

Here again we have a model for which there is provision in the SkaleAuto range. The bus garage has a sign above saying 'Skaledale & District Omnibus Co.' and one of the vehicles in the SkaleAutos series is a red and cream bus carrying the name Skaledale & District Omnibus Co.. This is small, as bus depots go, and would probably be sufficient for two or three buses, as a village depot. Alternatively, it could have the name changed and be an old bus depot that has been taken over by a small coach company.
