Bachmann Parallel Boiler 'Royal Scot' 31-284Royal Scot PB BRb The Ranger 1.JPG (44831 bytes)

Bachmann inherited the tooling for several models of LMS 4-6-0 passenger locomotives from the Mainline Railways range belonging to Palitoy but made for them by Kader in Hong Kong. These included an unrebuilt 'Royal Scot' with a parallel boiler. Although their split-chassis models are being phased out, this particular model is not included in the company's development plan for this year. However, it seems logical that it will be retooled. In the meantime, versions of the model continue to be released and this is the latest one which should soon be in the shops.

BR 46165 The Ranger (12th London Regt.) is in BR green with early insignia on the tender. The original locomotive was built in October 1930 and rebuilt (but still with a parallel boiler) in June 1952. The locomotive survived in service until November 1964.
