The Hornby 'Monobloc' tank wagon dates from 1973 and has been a great survivor. Despite the more accurate Bachmann model now available, Hornby continue to produce more variations of their older model and still they sell. This is largely due to the improved finishes the wagons receive today. This is the 47th version and, with two more to come this year, next year we could see the release of the 50th Hornby Monobloc tanker.
The livery of R6396 is pale grey with red solebars but, although allocated to Esso, it carries no branding. It does, however, carry the number 56085 and the TOPS code TTA. It is also in 'weathered' condition, showing the effects of spillage from the filler cap on top - all realistically applied.
