The BR Mk3 Trailer Guard Standard (TGS) was modelled by Lima in 1982
and 11 versions of it were produced. Hornby acquired the tooling and reintroduced it in
2006 and in just three years will have produced 10 more versions when the last of this
year's batch arrives. The only one due this year, but not yet released, will be in the new
Grand Central livery. The TGS is an essential part of any High Speed Train as it travels
just behind one of the power units, as coach 'A', and contains a compartment for the
guard.
The InterCity version (R4314A) is the second to carry this livery in the Hornby range and is in buff and a very dark grey (you might as well call it black!) It carries the running number 44024.
The GNER version (R4315A) is also a second appearance with a new
number, which is 44063. This shows the GNER livery in its final form before it was
replaced with that of National Express East Coast. It therefore has red doors at the
passenger end, but not the guard end.
The First Great Western 'Fag Packet' (so called) livery was missing from the range available from Hormby and now the gap has been filled with coach number 44093 (R4326).
