Freightliner was privatised in 1996 through a management buyout and a separate division was formed in 1999 called Heavy Haul for non-container traffic. This has become highly successful business and operates over a wide geographical area, from Inverness to Cornwall. The HHA bogie hopper wagons were built for the transportation of coal to power stations. They were built by Wagony Swidnica in Poland in 2000 and 446 were eventually constructed. They have a carrying capacity of 73.6 tonnes and a top speed of 75mph. The sample illustrated is numbered 370270 and should be in the shops by late July.
