The VIX Ferry van first made its appearance in 1970 as a Tri-ang Hornby model. Since then, it has appeared in 15 versions. Its two large side doors slide open to reveal a plain interior.

R6403 has in Railfreight grey and red livery but has been subjected to a graffiti 'attack' It has also been 'weathered' and carries the number DB 787011. Only one lot of artwork was prepared and so the same graffiti appears on both sides.Ferry Van Hornby 2008 R6414.jpg (48598 bytes)

R6414 commemorates the 70th Anniversary of the launch of the Hornby Dublo model railway system in September 1938, by way of an announcement and advert in Meccano Magazine. The bright blue for the wagon reminds us of the blue boxes used for the Hornby Dublo models after the Second World War but at the packaging at the time of the launch was a pale blue. R6414 is also this year's limited edition 'Hornby' wagon, a series started in 1992.
