We can learn quite a lot about D.V.Gostick from what is carried on the side of the 12T wagon. The No.1 suggests that Mr Gostick was probably a small time coal merchant with only one or two wagons. We also know that he operated from the former Midland Railway coal depot in Valley Road, Bradford, and that his wagon was registered with the LMS. Research tells us that David Vann Gostick was born in 1874 and, by the age of 27, was a coal agent living in Bradford where his father had previously had a coal business. D.V.Gostick bought his coal from a colliery in Wakefield and it is thought that he had only the one wagon which was built in 1934 by the Birmingham Railway Carriage & Wagon Company. The model is blue with white lettering, shaded black and is expected to soon be in the shops.
