Little is known about R Fred Cole other than what the sides of the 8 ton wagon tells us. He was obviously a coal and coke merchant operating from Fairford and Lechlade and the 'No.11' suggests that he owned several wagons with which to collect his coal from the collieries that supplied him. The use of a 5-plank rather than a 7-plank wagon was unusual because it would carry 4 tons less coal but it may have been a second-hand purchase that was conveniently available.
The model is of a wooden floored wagon in a brown-red livery with the lettering in white, shaded black. It is expected that this soon will be in the shops.
