The well detailed Stanier coaches were added to the Hornby catalogue in 2005. They are only now (three years later) on their second batch of numbers, suggesting that either the original batches of models produced in 2005 were unusually large or that they have not been selling as well as some of the other models in the catalogue.

Stanier 1st LMS.jpg (41043 bytes)They are based on Period 3 of LMS coach design and appear short compared with some other coaches of the time. The models are, of course, to scale and well detailed to the extent of individual door handles which are easy to knock off if you are too rough with them. Particularly appealing are the curtains at the windows on the compartment side of the 1st class coach.

The new releases in LMS crimson lake livery are a 3rd class corridor coach (R4231A) numbered '1573' and a 1st class corridor coach (R4230A) numbered '1062'. For the first time, Hornby have provided the models with alternative corridor connectors which, when used with the alternative close couplings (also supplied), abut each other to give the impression of a continuous corridor
