We had a windmill added to the Skaledale range in 2005. That was based on the preserved Drapers Mill in Margate. Now a new windmill model has been added to the catalogue. This is of a similar design to Drapers Mill (called 'Highfields Mill' in the Skaledale range) being a smock mill with ‘spring’ sails and all-round gantry. The base, however, is octagonal and in brick. Above this sits a timber clad ‘smock’ with a timber gantry at its base. The smock has a fixed timber clad cap which carries the sail shaft on one side and the fantail gearing on the other side. On the model the sails, fantail gearing and handrail around the gantry have been assembled in metal and are quite intricate. The rest of the model is cast in resin with the timber cladding painted black.
