Hornby LMS 12-wheel Diner R4095DLMS Diner.jpg (42706 bytes)

The LMS 12-wheel dining car has a long history. Initially planned by Airfix, it was in the design stage when Airfix went into receivership in 1981. Palitoy took over the project and probably made the tools which were taken over by Dapol when Mainline Railways (Palitoy) production ceased in 1964. Dapol were the first to produce a model but parted with the tools to Hornby when they needed to raise money following a disastrous fire at their warehouse. Hornby upgraded the tooling and released their first model in 1999. Since then they have produced eleven versions of it, this being the eleventh.

The car is in lined LMS crimson lake livery and carries the number '234'.
