Over 300 Class 37 diesels were built from 1959 onwards. They were constructed at the works of Vulcan Foundry and Hawthorn Leslie Darlington. The first 37 entered service in December 1960, pulling passenger trains between Liverpool Street Station, Norwich and Clacton.
'37035' is in departmental grey and yellow livery and sports the charging Welsh goat motif of Canton Depot. There motifs are printed on but also supplied in the box as etched metal motives to stick on top of the printed ones. There are also etched metal BR double arrow logos for the other end of the locomotive. Snowploughs and additional cables/hoses for the cab fronts are supplied in the bag of bits, as too are imitation couplings. The functional couplings are slim-line tension-locks in NEM pockets.
The model has separately applied aerials, grab rails, lamp brackets and windscreen wipers. It cab fronts have split code boxes with spots in each and sprung buffers. The gauge on the side of the fuel tank has a printed face and the cab interiors are well detailed.
