Hornby released their Class 60 diesel model in 2005 and it has so far appeared in seven liveries. The latest one is triple grey with large EWS logos each side on a large yellow square. Repainting their entire fleet of locomotives into EWS maroon and yellow livery was a long process and, in the meantime many of the old liveries survived. With the old fleet gradually being phased out, the decision was taken to use this solution instead of repainting. The patch masks the former 'train-load' symbol. In this case it was train-load metals as part of the livery remains besides the forward cab doors.
The model is of 60014 'Alexander Fleming' and is in a pristine finish. It has twin bogie drive and is 'DCC ready'. This is a highly detailed model with see-through grills and very detailed cab interiors, as well as below the body line. The couplings come detached and in a bag with many other detail extras not seen in the photograph.
