Bachmann Class 4MT 2-6-0 32-950Class 4MT 2-6-0.JPG (51593 bytes)

This model is brand new this year and was launched before the model railway press on the East Lancashire Railway at their Bury Depot on 10th of October. This is really a beautiful model with bags of detail. The sample we have is of 76053 in BR early lined black livery and paired with a BR1B 4725 gallon tender with a 9 ton coal capacity. This makes it a typical Southern Region locomotive.

The class was introduced by Riddles in 1952 as a version of Ivatt's 'Mucky Duck' 2-6-0s and while close technically, it was a more attractive looking machine, being more conventional and less austere. It has the standard BR chimney and cab. Construction of the class was split between Doncaster and Horwich and the finished locomotives were to be found on all regions except the Western. Three examples made it into preservation.
