It is good to see the return of the Class 142 'Pacer' in the Hornby catalogue and it comes with a nicely applied new livery - the canary yellow of Merseyrail PTE Northern. The model was first released in 1987 and 8 different versions followed, The last livery appeared in 2000. This was the light blue of Northern Spirit but this model disappeared from the shops in 2003. This used to be a poor performer but Hornby have improved it. It does have traction tyres.
Hornby have done their research and given the model dot matrix destination information - just like the real sets. The two destinations on the model are 'Liverpool Lime Street' and 'Manchester Oxford Road'.
