The Royal Scot train set celebrates the early years of BR expresses when the locomotives were painted blue and the coaches were crimson and cream. This colour combination has always been eye-catching and, for some, nostalgic. However, the blue paint proved not to be stable and BR adopted Brunswick green for all passenger locomotives in the early 1950s.
It is interesting to note that in the early post-war period, the blue livery was not carried by any Hornby Dublo or Tri-ang locomotives although both Trix and Graham Farish both produced representations of it, as did Bassett-Lowke in the larger 0 gauge.
This set contains a pre-2002 version of the Duchess Class model as 46237 'City of Bristol' together with four of the 1977 series Stanier coaches. These are composites 'M4300' and 'M4326' and brake ends 'M5646' and 'M5819'. The set also includes the R8217 Trakmat, accessory pack C, an oval of 3rd radius track with two points and buffer stops (track packs A and B), R8206 power track, a C990 wall plug transformer and the R965 controller.
