Since 2001, Hornby have sold the solo models that make up Hogwarts Express, the train that featured in the first of the Harry Potter books. They have also released a complete train set incorporating the train with track and accessories.
With the release of each Harry Potter film, the set and individual
models have been re-released in new packaging to match designs used to promote each film.
This year the design is for the film Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and
now, for the first time, the locomotive has been altered to incorporate a working
headlamp.
We previously looked at the re-released coaches in the new packaging and since then the revised locomotive (R2662) and the train set (R1095) have arrived in the shops. The loco and tender are one item while the train set contains the loco and tender, two coaches, a wayside station halt called 'Hogsmeade', an oval of track and a siding, a specially designed Trakmat, a controller, power clip and transformer.
