This much-looked-forward-to train pack turned out to be a disappointment for some who had ordered it. It had been intended to use the former Lima Class 43 model for the power and dummy power cars, in place of the 30 year old Hornby model, and this was how it had been advertised. Unfortunately, when it came to test the body tool, it was found to be badly damage. As the repairs could not be done in time, the old Hornby model was used instead.
With the transfer of the East Coast Mainline franchise to National Express, a new livery is expected and this will probably be the last time the Hornby Class 43 will be produced in the familiar navy blue livery. The motorised power car is 43118 'City of Kingston upon Hull' and the dummy car 43115 'Aberdeenshire'. Also in the pack are standard class cars G '42192' and H '42193'. G and H have previously been first class cars.
