Another subject already covered by Hornby, and now modelled by Bachmann, is the 45T air-braked long wheelbase vans of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Bachmann have introduced the VAA, VBA and VDA this year and the first of these will soon be in the shops. A total of seven models will be released this year. We have received the first two samples and the added detail and printing are both excellent.
The VAA (38-120) is in the red and mid-grey Railfreight livery of the
mid 1980s. It is numbered '200116'. The number belongs to a 29T Vanfit, with full length
doors, built at Ashford Works in 1969.
The VBA (38-126)
is in BR brown livery and carries the number '200289'. This number also belongs to a 29T
Vanfit with full length doors but was from a different batch built at Ashford between 1970
and 1971.
