With a hint of the famous Tri-ang Old Smokey set of 1965, the new set
is clearly aimed at beginners. For the first time it marries up the LNER Class J83 0-6-0T
with teak clerestory coaches to form an old local passenger train in a rather dirty
condition (the last similar set surprisingly used an LMS Jinty in unlined Apple green
livery as LNER 8400 and came with three teak clerestory coaches as set R724 of 1988).
While we have before seen the J83 in 'weathered' condition, this the first time that the
short clerestory coaches have received this treatment.
The loco is in LNER lined green livery and numbered '8469'. The composite coach carries the number '4104' and the brake end - '3858'. In addition, the set contains an oval of track with a siding, a small Trakmat, a wall mounted transformer and a controller.
