With a surplus of MGR coal wagons and a need for more air-braked engineers wagons, 125 wagon conversions took place in 1997. The work was done at Wabtec in Doncaster. The HAA hoppers were removed from their frames and a low-sided box fitted instead. With a new identity, the wagons took on new numbers. In the case of this model, '394228' was allocated. It is the ninth version to be produced by Hornby - all of them in EWS maroon.
