Hornby Rebuilt BB 17 Squadron R2587BoB Rebuilt 17 Squadron R2587.jpg (45825 bytes)

This was the first Rebuilt Battle of Britain Class locomotive model to arrive in the shops and, like 'Ottery St Mary' and 'Sir Keith Park', it was in pristine finish with late BR insignia. Fitted with a loco mounted 5-pole skew wound motor, it is 'DCC ready' and has the controversial fixed pony truck to allow for greater detail. It has the a highly detailed body and cab interior and comes with a number of items to be fitted, depending on whether you want the model running or for display. These include the brake rods, cylinder drain cocks, artificial front coupling and back plate and the front steps.

34062 '17 Squadron' was built in May 1947 and rebuilt in April 1959. After travelling 836,000 miles, it finished service with British Railways in June 1964 and was sold for scrap to Birds Commercial Motors of Bridgend. It was broken up by R.S.Hayes in July.
