| The 3mm Society | 3mm refers to a scale of 3mm to 1 foot with a track gauge of 12mm. It is also known in the UK as 'TT'. Interest in TT grew with the launch of Tri-ang TT in 1957. This was designed to enable modellers to build more in a smaller space and, although production ceased in the mid 60s, the 3mm Society came into being largely as a result of it. |
| The British 1:87 Scale Society | 1:87 equates to H0 scale, which at 3.5mm to the foot, is more correct on 16.5mm track than 00 which uses a scale of 4mm to the foot. This site gives a brief history of British H0, provides lists of what has been produced in H0 in British outline and explains the advantages of the scale. |
| The Scalefour Society | 00 uses an incorrect scale/gauge combination. If you retain the track gauge at 16.5mm, H0 3.5mm scale models would be correct to use with it. If on the other hand you keep the 4mm scale, 18.83mm gauge track would be correct. It is this later combination that the Scalefour Society supports. |
