In the Western Main Lines Series, this pictorial record concentrates on the line between the county town of Carmarthan, on the south coast of Wales, and the port of Fishguard on the north Pembrokeshire coast. It also includes the Milford Haven and Neyland branches to the Cleddau Estuary. The line from Carmarthen runs directly west until it reaches the West Cleddau Valley and then gradually turns north to Fishguard and Goodwick. The branch line leaves the main line in mid-Pembrokeshire turning south west before originally splitting in two at Johnston; the east branch once going to Neyland, but now closed, and the west branch to Milford Haven. Other branches off the main line, which are not covered in the book, include one north to Cardigan (now closed) and the other south to Pembroke. There was also a short spur to Letterston. The book follows the normal Middleton Press format of black and white photographs covering the history of the route, ticketing information, timetables, OS maps of the route and ticket facsimiles. As always, these books are valuable reference works for railway modellers.
