This volume of the 'ultimate rail encyclopaedia' covers three lines in GWR Welsh border territory. The first is the Gobowen to Welshpool route which runs in a north-south direction, entering the Severn Valley north of Welshpool. The Tanat Valley Branch leaves this line at a point near Oswestry and runs in a westerly direction. The Llanfyllin Branch runs parallel to the Tanat Valley line, south of it, and joins the Gobowen to Welshpool line near Llanymynech. The book deals with the three lines in the above order and includes the usual mix of black and white photographs, extracts of Ordnance Survey maps, track plans, ticket facsimiles, ticketing information and timetables.
