We travel into Lincolnshire for this study of which the subject is that part of the former Midland & Great Northern Joint Railway (M&GN) between Little Bytham and Long Sutton but including the link with the former Midland Railway at Saxby. This started as a branch off the former Midland Railway network at Saxby, crossed the Great Northern main line, by way of a bridge at Little Bytham, and from here became the M&GN line to the Norfolk coastal resorts. Use of the route was cut down in sections, leading to complete closure by the mid 1960s.

The book follows the Middleton Press format, providing OS map extracts as the route progresses and a selection of black and white photographs that show the main features (stations, yards and junctions) at various times in their history. Both maps and photographs are well captioned to bring out their historical relevance. There are also sample timetables reproduced in the book.
