The DVD consists of footage of numerous preserved locomotives being put through their paces pulling 'specials' on the national rail network. Many of the locomotives are from the National Collection and they represent British Railways, each of the Big Four and several of the Pre-Grouping companies. There are also many clips from the Shildon Cavalcade that marked the 150th Anniversary of the first passenger carrying railway in Britain. An ad lib commentary is given by Alan Pegler.
