Another book in this superb series on the history if individual American railroad companies. The Baltimore & Ohio Railroad was America's first to receive the mandate to operate for the public and commerce and, as such, was a pioneer. It was the first with a scheduled passenger services, air-conditioned passenger cars, efficient water-tube locomotives, lightweight streamliners, high-speed passenger diesels and 'piggyback' freight services. The book covers 160 years of railway history with some great illustrations and interesting text.
