The book covers the former LNWR line running Northwest from Birmingham New Street, through the Black Country to Wolverhampton. It takes in Smethwick, Albion, and Tipton, amongst other stations and is known as the Stour Valley Line. The book also includes the LNWR branch line to Harbourne which ran Southwest from a point between the stations of Monument Lane and Winson Green. This line ceased to function when goods traffic was withdrawn in November 1963. The book contains the usual excellent range of black and white photographs which show the lines in use down the years. There are also early OS map extracts, facsimiles of tickets, reproduction of some timetables and statistical information.
