Locomotives & Other Motive Power 1964

So many railway enthusiasts grew up with Ian Allan's ABC loco identity books, the fascinating story behind which is told in Allan's own biography Driven By Steam (ISBN 0-7110-2115-5). In recent years the company has been reprinting some of the early examples of the combined volume. This time they have jumped to 1964. This was an interesting year with steam phasing-out gathering momentum and the new diesel classes growing in size. What a shame more was not done at this time to save the disappearing classes.
