This is the latest volume in an ever expanding library of books by Middleton Press on narrow gauge railways. Developing this as a series in its own right has brought greater attention to bear on the history of these forgotten and often small networks. For this volume we stray abroad again but this time to the island of Cyprus and particularly the Cyprus Government Railway which once linked the capital, Nicosia, to Evrychou in the west and Famagusta in the east. The book also includes the Cyprus Mines Corporation Railway which dated back to 1916 and was used to transport copper pyrites from mines in the valleys of Karyotis and Xeros Potamos, out to the coast. The Turkish invasion of 1974 split the route in two and effectively closed the mines. The Vasilikos Kalavassos and Drapia mineral railway is also included.
