The Baltimore & Ohio is one of the oldest passenger train companies in the world and was charted in 1827. Travelling between Baltimore, Washington and Chicago, it became the Baltimore & Ohio Capitol Limited in 1923 and by 1925 had linked to St.Louis with the 'National Limited'. The book takes the reader on a nostalgic ride through the ages, with superb images in black and white but mostly colour, reproduced publicity material, route information, locomotive details and the inside story of the frugal railroad's methods of streamlining its equipment with innovative and aesthetically pleasing results. There are interior views of the coaches, the staff and their uniforms, route maps, stations and the story is brought right up to date with the revival of one of its most important services.
