Here we have another album in the Country Railway Routes series. This time it follows the Great Western Railway route between Kidderminster and Shrewsbury but also includes the lines that once formed the Kidderminster/Stourport diamond. Today the Kidderminster to Shrewsbury link along the Severn Valley has gone but the Kidderminster to Bridgeport part of the line has survived and operates as one of the best known preserved railways and heritage centres.
The Severn Valley Railway Society (SVR) was formed in the summer of 1965 and the subsequent work of this hard working organisation is also celebrated in this book. Photographs of the SVR sit alongside earlier ones taken when the line was operated by the GWR and later by British Railways. Throughout the book, maps provide an aerial view of the more important features and pre-SVR ticketing information and timetables are provided.
