This book is in the Eastern Main Lines series being developed by Middleton Press. It traces the route between Darlington and Newcastle via Durham. There is much of railway interest on this section of the East Coast Main Line to Scotland with a vast number of junctions, rural and urban stations and some attractive viaducts. Although most of the rural stations have now gone, the book provides us with a reminder of what they looked like. Interestingly at both ends of this stretch of line there was a locomotive works built by Robert Stephenson.
