The book includes three branch lines. The Hereford to Three Cocks Junction line passed through Hay and closed in 1961. The Titley Junction Branch left the latter line at Eardisley Junction and climbed north to Titley. This closed in the summer of 1940. Golden Valley Line left Hay in an easterly direction before climbing south and dropping down to Pontrilas. The last section of this closed in 1969. The book follows the Middleton Press's formula of combining a broad selection of good and well captioned black and white photographs of the route with OS map extracts, timetables and ticketing information.
