Although printed on tissue-thin paper, this book still measures 22 mm in thickness but weighs only 400g. It is a comprehensive guide to rail travel throughout Britain. OAG stands for Official Airline Guides and the book contains intercity timetables, local train timetables, railway maps and current fares. With the reported demise of the National Rail Timetable (NRT), Middleton Press is offering this as an alternative. It is almost as comprehensive and includes Eurostar services. All the timetables in the book are as in the NRT, except for suburban services for cities outside London, where frequencies are shown. There is no loose map but instead there are 21 diagrams which are easily scanned at the flick of the thumb. They are from north to south, with table numbers shown and scales changing according to route complexity and density. Heritage railways are listed, showing operating days, gauge, length, facilities and background. There are also details of bus connections and information on tram, underground and metro networks for the UK and Eire.
