locomotive was one of 139 contractors locomotives built between 1869 and 1921. This
locomotive was delivered to T. A. Walker for
the Manchester Ship
Canal contract in March 1888. It was sold to the Wantage Tramway in 1893 and became No. 7
in the fleet. It was used on the demolition trains after the line closed in 1946 before
being sold to a contractor. It then went to Cordes Steel Mills at Newport until
it closed in 1964. Although offered for sale there were no buyers and the locomotive was
subsequently broken up.
