& WYE RAILWAY LOCOMOTIVES
- The Severn & Wye Railway passed into the joint ownership of the Great
Western Railway and the Midland Railway in 1894. Locomotives were split between the two
companies accordingly.

locomotives were built between 1873 and 1876. The first (Little John) was sold
to the Midland
Railway in 1895 becoming 1123A (scrapped in 1905). Will Scarlet and
Alan-A-Dale became GWR locomotives Nos 1355 / 1356 and were rebuilt at Swindon in
1896. No. 1355 was withdrawn in 1905, whilst No. 1356 was sold in 1912. It eventually
returned to GWR ownership in 1921 but was withdrawn in 1923

to the Midland
