110 locomotives were built between April 1900 and January 1908. A further 20 with corrugated fireboxes appeared in 1903 to the design of Hoy who had succeeded Aspinall in 1899 after the design work had been completed. The 20 Hoy examples were subsequently rebuilt with conventional boilers. The first was withdrawn in 1923 and the last in October 1950
