2301 Class 0-6-0 (Dean Goods) Dean
280 locomotives were built between April 1883 and January 1899. Some 62 locomotives saw service in Europe during the First World War with the Railway Operating Department (ROD) between 1917 and 1921. 108 locomotives saw service with the War Department during World War 2. 20 locomotives were rebuilt as 3901 Class 2-6-2Ts between February 1907 and January 1910 (see 3901 Class 2-6-2T). The first was withdrawn in January 1907 and the last in June 1954. 1 locomotive has been preserved

28xx Class 2-8-0 Churchward
84 28xx Class locomotives were built between June 1903 and April 1919. The first was withdrawn in April 1958 and the last in January 1965. 7 locomotives have been preserved. A further 81 2884 Class (sometimes referred to as 38xx Class) locomotives were built between 1938 and 1942 and were fitted with side window cabs. These included the 38xx number series sometimes incorrectly referred to as the 38xx Class. The first was withdrawn in November 1962 and the last in November 1965. 9 locomotives have been preserved

20 locomotives were rebuilt from Duke of Cornwall Class locomotives between 1906 and 1909. The remaining 135 locomotives were built new between November 1899 and January 1910. Locomotives 3441-55 were named after birds (they are sometimes referred to as Bird Class locomotives but were part of the Bulldog Class. The first was withdrawn in August 1929 and the last in June 1951

A further 20 locomotives were built new as 0-4-4 Tanks between 1888 and 1889 and were built as Broad Gauge locomotives capable of conversion to Standard Gauge. 26 locomotives were rebuilt as 4-4-0s between March 1899 and October 1900 The first was withdrawn in October 1913 and the last in May 1934
